Big South Fork: Intro to Backpacking

Participants took their first steps into the world of backpacking in the stunning Appalachian mountain range at Big South Fork, Tennessee.

This 3-day introductory course was perfect for those who looked to gain the skills and confidence needed to embark on a lifetime of outdoor exploration.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants learned essential backcountry skills such as map reading, cooking, safety protocols, expedition planning, and risk management. Daily dhikr, prayer, Qur’an recitation, and Islamic classes kept them grounded in their faith throughout the journey.

Big South Fork, with its lush forests, sandstone bluffs, and winding rivers, provided an ideal setting for this immersive learning experience. Whether they were aspiring adventurers or simply looking to deepen their connection with nature and spirituality, this course equipped participants with the knowledge and inspiration to pursue their wilderness goals.
