Omayah

Outdoor Instructor

Omayah grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and recently graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Environmental and Soil Sciences. Her academic journey included research on tree swallows and sustainable small-scale farming, blending her love for wildlife with a commitment to ecological stewardship. Her connection to the outdoors was shaped by summers in rural middle Tennessee and weekends exploring the mountains of East Tennessee, experiences that continue to inspire her today.

Whether she’s hiking deep into the Smokies or relaxing in a hammock beside a lake, Omayah finds joy in nature’s quiet and challenge alike. As a course leader with Tayseer Wilderness, she thrives on watching individuals grow through shared adventure and intentional community. A passionate bird enthusiast, she spends her free time (and research hours) handling birds and asking curious questions (on the trail and off). She’s also known for her double-jointed arms, love of reading, and the occasional deep dive into organic chemistry.
