Growing up, Hussein spent countless hours exploring the volcanic escarpment of Albuquerque’s west mesa, which forged his connection to the outdoors.  Later, he and his wife, Nashua, enrolled in various outdoor skills classes together. Since then, they have taken every opportunity to be outside in nature, including backcountry camping in the Appalachians, bike camping along the C& O canal, kayaking + front country camping along the Chesapeake Bay, and hiking all over the country.  Hussein has been with Tayseer Wilderness since the Spring of 2024, co-leading courses in the San Juans of Colorado and the Appalachians of Virginia.

He is National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wilderness First Aid certified. He lives in Durham, NC, with his wife and four children.  When not outside, he works remotely from home, leading the IT and eCommerce teams as the Chief Information Officer of SARA (a Middle East-based distributor of bathrooms, tableware, and home décor).
